Description

Tender whole apples filled with a sweet pecan and cinnamon crumble, then cooked in the air fryer until soft, juicy, and lightly caramelized. This warm fall dessert comes together in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large Gala apples or other firm baking apples
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoon almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
  2. Slice the top from each apple to create a flat surface.
  3. Carefully core each apple with a sharp paring knife, leaving the bottom intact.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 320°F for approximately 2 minutes.
  5. Place the apples in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
  6. Sprinkle the apples with 1 tablespoon brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  7. Air fry the apples at 320°F for 15 minutes.
  8. Combine the chopped pecans, almond flour, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, melted coconut oil, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
  9. Remove the apples from the air fryer and spoon the pecan crumble into and over each apple.
  10. Return the apples to the air fryer and cook at 320°F for another 5 minutes.
  11. Serve the baked apples warm.

Notes

  1. Choose firm apples that can stand upright and hold their shape during cooking.
  2. Honeycrisp, Fuji, Pink Lady, Granny Smith, and Braeburn apples also work well.
  3. Do not cut through the bottom of the apples when coring them.
  4. Serve with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, Greek yogurt, caramel sauce, or maple syrup.
  5. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  6. Reheat in the air fryer at 320°F for 3 to 4 minutes or microwave until warm.
