Description

These cozy Apple Fritter Bites are soft, cinnamon-spiced, and studded with juicy apples, all baked (not fried!) to perfection. Finished with a sweet apple cider glaze, they’re the ultimate fall treat for snacking, brunch, or back-to-school indulgence, without the mess of deep frying.

Ingredients

Scale

For the batter:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt

  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 1/2 cups finely diced Honeycrisp or Gala apples

  • Nonstick cooking spray

For the glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp apple cider or apple juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F and grease a baking sheet with nonstick spray.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

  3. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter with sugar. Add egg, vanilla, and applesauce; mix until smooth.

  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir just until combined. Fold in the diced apples.

  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions onto the baking sheet, spacing evenly.

  6. Bake for 10 minutes. Switch oven to broil.

  7. While baking, whisk together powdered sugar and apple cider until smooth.

  8. Brush fritters with glaze and broil for 2–4 minutes, rotating often until golden and bubbly.

  9. Remove from oven, brush with remaining glaze, and let set for 15 minutes.

Notes

Best apples: Honeycrisp or Gala for sweet-tart flavor.

Broiling caramelizes the glaze—don’t skip it.

Add extra cider to thin the glaze if needed.

Store glazed bites in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temp or 5 days in the fridge.

To serve later, store glaze separately and apply fresh.
