Description

Craving a sweet, spiced fall treat? These Apple Snickerdoodle Bars combine buttery cookie texture with juicy apples and cinnamon sugar topping.


Ingredients

1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups (180g) all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

1 medium apple, peeled and finely diced

Topping:

2 tbsp (25g) granulated sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment paper.

2. Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.

4. Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

5. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients.

6. Fold in diced apple and spread batter in prepared pan.

7. Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over batter.

8. Bake 25-30 minutes or until edges are golden.

9. Cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

Don’t overmix the batter. Use softened butter. Cool completely before cutting for neat bars.
