Description
Back to School Apple Cupcakes are quick, cute classroom treats made with cupcakes, red frosting, candy stems, green candy leaves, and gummy worms.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 cooled cupcakes, homemade or store-bought
- 2 cups red frosting
- 1/2 cup green frosting, optional
- 6 Tootsie Rolls, softened slightly and shaped into stems
- 2 Green Airheads, flattened and cut into leaf shapes
- 12 gummy worms, whole or halved as needed
Instructions
- Start with fully cooled cupcakes so the frosting holds its shape.
- Spread or pipe red frosting over each cupcake, covering the top well.
- Flatten the Green Airheads with a rolling pin and cut them into small leaf shapes.
- Soften the Tootsie Rolls with your hands, roll them into thin stems, and cut them to size.
- Place one Tootsie Roll stem in the center of each frosted cupcake.
- Pinch the bottom of one candy leaf and place it beside the stem.
- Tuck one gummy worm around the stem, near the leaf, or partially under the candy leaf.
- Repeat with the remaining cupcakes and arrange them on a serving tray.
Notes
- Nutritional values will vary based on the cupcake brand, frosting amount, and candy size used.
- Use cooled cupcakes only, since warm cupcakes can melt the frosting.
- Cut all gummy worms the same size if serving children.
- For best appearance, add candy decorations close to serving time.
