Description

Soft, bakery-style white bread baked inside an oven bag for even heat, steady rise, and tender slices ideal for sandwiches and toast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 1/2 to 7 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups warm water (105–110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 5 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let stand until foamy.
  2. Stir salt and 3 tablespoons vegetable oil into the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually mix in flour until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead dough with remaining oil until smooth and elastic.
  5. Shape dough into a loaf and place inside an oven-safe roasting bag.
  6. Let the dough rest briefly on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven until golden and baked through.
  8. Remove from the bag and cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  1. Do not seal the oven bag tightly to allow room for expansion.
  2. Open the bag during the last few minutes for a firmer crust.
  3. Cool the bread fully before slicing for best texture.
