Description

A warm, buttery canned peach cobbler made with simple pantry ingredients, cinnamon, canned peaches, and a golden homemade batter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, about 1/2 cup
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, plus more to taste
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cans sliced peaches in syrup, 15 ounces each
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Place the butter in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish and set the dish in the oven while it preheats.
  3. Once the butter melts, carefully remove the baking dish from the oven.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon.
  5. Add the milk and stir until the batter looks smooth.
  6. Pour the batter evenly over the melted butter, but do not stir.
  7. Spoon the canned peaches and some syrup evenly over the batter, but do not mix the layers.
  8. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and the center looks set but slightly soft.
  9. Let the cobbler rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  10. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  1. Add extra cinnamon to the peaches before baking for warmer flavor.
  2. Use only a small amount of syrup if you prefer a less gooey center.
  3. Do not stir the butter, batter, and peaches together after layering.
  4. Let the cobbler rest before serving so the filling thickens slightly.
