Description

Crispy fried cheese balls with a golden breadcrumb coating and a creamy mozzarella and cream cheese center, served hot with a fresh garlic herb yogurt sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3.5 oz mozzarella cheese, finely grated
  • 3.5 oz cream cheese, softened
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 4 tablespoons Greek yogurt or soft farmer’s cheese
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • Fresh herbs such as dill or parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Combine mozzarella, cream cheese, and salt until smooth
  2. Shape mixture into tablespoon-sized balls and refrigerate for 15 minutes
  3. Prepare three bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs
  4. Coat each cheese ball in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat
  6. Fry cheese balls in batches for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels
  8. Mix yogurt, garlic, and herbs and serve alongside hot cheese balls

Notes

  1. For extra crispiness, double-coat with egg and breadcrumbs
  2. Keep cheese balls chilled until frying to prevent leaking
  3. Reheat leftovers in an oven or air fryer for best texture
