Description

Soft skillet Cheese Flatbreads made with kefir, herbs, and melted cheese for a quick homemade bread.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups shredded cheese
  • 2 1/2 cups plain kefir
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh herbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Unsalted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Whisk kefir and eggs until smooth
  2. Mix in salt sugar baking soda baking powder and oil
  3. Stir in cheese and herbs
  4. Add flour gradually until thick batter forms
  5. Heat skillet over medium heat
  6. Spoon batter into rounds and spread gently
  7. Cook 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden
  8. Brush with butter while warm
  9. Repeat with remaining batter

Notes

  1. Use good melting cheese
  2. Add extra kefir if batter feels too thick
  3. Store leftovers chilled up to two days
