Description
A hearty one-pan comfort food made with ground beef, tender potatoes, and melty cheddar cheese. This cheesy skillet dinner is quick to prepare, full of flavor, and perfect for busy weeknights or cozy evenings.
Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1 tablespoon olive oil
-
1 medium onion, chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced (about 600 g)
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
-
1 teaspoon paprika
-
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
-
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-
1/2 cup beef broth
-
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
-
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks.
-
Stir in onion and garlic, cooking until softened and golden, 3–4 minutes.
-
Add diced potatoes, then season with salt, pepper, paprika, and oregano. Stir well.
-
Pour in beef broth, reduce heat, cover, and simmer 20–25 minutes until potatoes are fork-tender and liquid mostly absorbed.
-
Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top, cover, and cook 2–3 minutes until melted.
-
Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
Use Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes for the best texture.
Swap cheddar for mozzarella, pepper jack, or your favorite cheese.
Add frozen peas, corn, or extra veggies to stretch the dish.
Dice potatoes evenly for uniform cooking.
Best made in a 12-inch skillet to avoid overcrowding.
