Cheesy ranch potatoes and smoked sausage are the ultimate comfort dish. It combines crispy roasted potatoes, smoky sausage, ranch seasoning, and melted cheese for a meal that’s both hearty and indulgent. Perfect for family dinners, meal prep, or cozy nights in, this dish is sure to become a favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb. of red potatoes or russet potatoes

  • 1 lb smoked sausage (turkey, chicken, or pork)

  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix or homemade ranch seasoning

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tbsp rolled oats (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Chop the potatoes: Cut the potatoes into bite-sized pieces. If using russets, peel them if you prefer.

  • Slice the sausage: Cut the smoked sausage into bite-sized slices.

  • Prepare the ranch seasoning: If using store-bought seasoning, open the packet. If making your own, mix garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, and salt.

  • Toss the potatoes: In a large bowl, coat the potatoes with olive oil, salt, and pepper.

  • Add the sausage: Add the sausage slices and ranch seasoning to the potatoes. Toss until everything is well coated.

  • Place in a baking dish: Spread the mixture in a single layer in a baking dish.

  • Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes to soften the potatoes and heat the sausage through.

  • Add cheese: Remove the foil and sprinkle the shredded cheese on top. Bake for another 10–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Optional crisp: For a crispier top, broil for 2–3 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.

  • Serve: Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

To make this dish lighter, use reduced-fat cheese or leaner sausage.

If you want extra vegetables, add bell peppers, onions, or broccoli. Adjust the cooking time to ensure they’re tender.

You can make this ahead of time and reheat it when needed.
