Description

Cheesy Taco Sticks are buttery pizza dough breadsticks filled with seasoned taco meat and melted colby jack cheddar cheese. They bake quickly, taste best hot, and make an easy appetizer, snack, or kid-friendly dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1 tube Pillsbury pizza dough
  • 5 colby jack and cheddar cheese sticks, halved
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Lightly coat a large baking sheet with non-stick spray and set it aside.
  3. Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon until browned and crumbled.
  4. Drain any excess fat, then return the skillet to the stove.
  5. Stir in the taco seasoning without adding water until the meat is fully coated.
  6. Remove the taco meat from the heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  7. Spread the pizza dough flat on a clean surface.
  8. Cut the dough in half lengthwise, then make 4 cuts across to create 10 small rectangles.
  9. Place about 1 tablespoon of taco meat in the center of each dough rectangle.
  10. Top each portion of taco meat with one halved cheese stick.
  11. Roll each dough rectangle around the filling and pinch all seams closed.
  12. Stir the melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley together in a small bowl.
  13. Brush the garlic butter mixture over the tops of the taco sticks.
  14. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown.
  15. Serve hot with salsa, sour cream, guacamole, or your favorite taco toppings.

Notes

  1. Leftover taco meat works well in this recipe.
  2. If you cook the full pound of beef, you may have extra taco meat.
  3. Freeze leftover taco meat for another quick meal.
  4. Do not overfill the dough, or the sticks may open while baking.
  5. Serve fresh from the oven for the best melted cheese texture.
