Description

Silky Southern chocolate gravy poured warm over flaky biscuits for a comforting breakfast classic.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3/4 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Biscuits for serving

Instructions

  1. Whisk sugar, cocoa powder, flour, and salt together in a saucepan.
  2. Slowly whisk in milk a little at a time until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Serve warm over biscuits.

Notes

  1. Buttermilk biscuits pair best, but any biscuit works well.
  2. Stir constantly to avoid lumps.
  3. Reheat gently with a splash of milk if needed.
