Description
Cranberry Orange Chicken is a one-pan American main course featuring tender chicken simmered in a sweet and tangy cranberry orange sauce, perfect for festive dinners or easy family meals.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 1 large orange, zested and juiced
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or water
- Optional: 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- Optional: 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
- Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and herbs.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet and brown the chicken on both sides.
- Remove chicken and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add cranberries, orange juice, orange zest, and honey, then simmer until cranberries burst.
- Return chicken to the skillet, add broth, cover, and cook until chicken reaches 165°F.
- Spoon sauce over chicken and serve warm.
Notes
- Fresh orange zest adds brightness and balances the tart cranberries. Use chicken thighs for a juicier result, or add balsamic vinegar for deeper flavor.
