Description

The magic of this dish lies in how it layers flavor effortlessly. The sausage adds a savory, slightly spicy depth while the tortellini soaks up the delicious sauce, enhanced with melted cheese and fragrant herbs.

Ingredients

Scale

1 pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy, sliced or crumbled)

20 oz refrigerated cheese tortellini

1 jar (24 oz) marinara or tomato pasta sauce

1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (undrained)

1/2 cup water or low-sodium broth

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1. Brown sausage in a skillet until fully cooked.

2. Add browned sausage to the Crockpot.

3. Pour in marinara sauce, diced tomatoes, and broth.

4. Add seasonings and stir well.

5. Cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours.

6. Add tortellini during the last 30–40 minutes of cooking.

7. Stir in mozzarella just before serving.

8. Garnish with parsley and enjoy.

Notes

For a creamy version, stir in ½ cup cream cheese or heavy cream before serving.

Add spinach or mushrooms during the last hour for more flavor.
