Description
Japanese BBQ Chicken Fried Rice is a smoky, savory, and slightly sweet one-pan meal that transforms day-old rice into a crave-worthy dinner. With tender BBQ-marinated chicken, fluffy rice, mixed vegetables, and green onions, it’s a 30-minute recipe that tastes like takeout but feels homemade.
Ingredients
-
2–3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (500–600 g), diced
-
4 cups (680 g) cooked jasmine rice (preferably day-old)
-
½ cup (120 ml) BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
-
1 cup (130 g) mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
-
2 green onions, chopped
-
2 tbsp (30 ml) low-sodium soy sauce
-
1 tbsp (15 ml) cooking oil
Instructions
-
Dice chicken and marinate with half the BBQ sauce for at least 15 minutes.
-
Heat oil in a wide skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Cook chicken for 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through.
-
Add mixed vegetables and stir-fry 3–4 minutes until tender.
-
Add rice, soy sauce, and the remaining BBQ sauce. Stir-fry for 2 minutes until coated and sizzling.
-
Stir in chopped green onions. Serve hot.
Notes
Use day-old rice for the best fluffy texture.
Don’t overcrowd the pan—this helps everything sear properly.
BBQ sauce flavor sets the tone—choose smoky, spicy, or sweet depending on your preference.
Frozen mixed veggies make this recipe fast and fuss-free.
Add sesame oil at the end for extra aroma.
