Description

A warm and simple peach cobbler made with canned peaches, melted butter, sugar, flour, milk, and baking powder. It bakes into a golden dessert with crisp edges and a tender topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large 29-ounce can sliced peaches, drained
  • 2 sticks butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Pour the drained sliced peaches into a skillet or 9×13 baking dish.
  3. Pour the melted butter evenly over the peaches.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, milk, and baking powder until a smooth batter forms.
  5. Pour the batter over the peaches and butter without stirring.
  6. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the edges are crisp.
  7. Add more baking time if using a cast iron skillet, as needed.
  8. Let the cobbler rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  1. Drain the peaches well to prevent a watery cobbler.
  2. Do not stir the batter into the peaches after layering.
  3. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  4. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
