Description

Flavorful and fun French Dip Sliders made with roast beef, provolone cheese, caramelized onions and served with au jus for dipping.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 sweet rolls
  • 10 slices provolone cheese
  • 14 ounces sliced deli roast beef
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dried onion soup mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 3 cups water
  • Fresh chopped parsley optional

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in skillet and cook onions 12-15 minutes until soft and browned.
  2. Add thyme salt and pepper then set aside.
  3. Slice rolls in half and place bottom in baking dish.
  4. Layer half cheese roast beef onions and remaining cheese then add tops.
  5. Mix melted butter with onion soup mix and brush over rolls.
  6. Cover loosely with foil and bake 25 minutes at 350°F.
  7. Remove foil and bake 5 more minutes until golden.
  8. Prepare au jus with water and serve sliders with dipping sauce.

Notes

  1. Dried herbs can replace fresh at half the amount.
  2. Sweet rolls work best but any slider buns can be used.
  3. Mozzarella can substitute for provolone.
  4. Au jus is optional but recommended.
  5. Sliders can be frozen before baking.
