Description

30-Minute Garlic Parmesan Dinner Rolls are soft, buttery, and finished with a garlicky Parmesan topping. They mix quickly, rise fast, and bake golden in about 20 minutes, making them an easy side for weeknights and holidays alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water (95-105°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons instant or platinum yeast
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated garlic
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded or grated
  • 2 teaspoons parsley
  • Additional melted butter for brushing after baking (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a non-stick liner and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar, then add the yeast and let it proof for 2 to 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add canola oil, salt, egg, and flour, then mix until a soft dough forms; add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky.
  4. Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces and shape each into a smooth roll.
  5. Place rolls on the prepared baking sheet and let rise in a warm place for 5 to 10 minutes.
  6. Brush the risen rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with granulated garlic, Parmesan, and parsley.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  8. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Brush with additional butter on top before serving, if desired.

Notes

  1. Milk option: Replace the warm water with warm milk for a slightly richer roll.
  2. Egg option: Replace the egg with a heaping tablespoon of fat-free Greek yogurt if needed.
  3. Kneading: The dough needs minimal kneading, but knead on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes if you want a fluffier texture.
  4. Yeast temperature: Keep the proofing liquid around 95-105°F for reliable activation.
