Description

Gordon Ramsay Beef Stroganoff combines tender seared beef, earthy mushrooms, and a silky, tangy cream sauce made with Dijon mustard and Worcestershire for an elevated take on the classic comfort dish. Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s a restaurant-quality meal perfect for family dinners or elegant gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb sirloin steak (or filet mignon), sliced into thin strips
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 small onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
¼ cup dry white wine (or beef broth)
1 cup beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
¾ cup sour cream (or crème fraîche)
1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or ½ teaspoon dried thyme)
Salt and pepper, to taste
8 oz egg noodles, cooked
1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for garnish)
Extra black pepper and Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  • Season beef strips with salt and black pepper.

  • Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Add beef strips and sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.

  • In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté onions and garlic until softened.

  • Add mushrooms and cook until golden brown.

  • Stir in smoked paprika and Dijon mustard.

  • Deglaze the pan with white wine or broth, scraping browned bits.

  • Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce; simmer for 2 minutes.

  • Lower heat and stir in sour cream until sauce is smooth.

  • Add thyme, salt, and pepper to taste.

  • Return seared beef to skillet and toss to coat evenly.

  • Serve immediately over egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.

  • Garnish with parsley and optional Parmesan.

Notes

Avoid boiling the sauce to prevent curdling. Use fresh thyme for aroma. Sear beef in small batches to ensure browning. For a lighter version, replace sour cream with Greek yogurt.
