Description

This creamy Ground Beef Stroganoff combines seasoned ground beef, tender egg noodles, and a rich homemade sauce. It is a budget-friendly family dinner that comes together in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook the egg noodles according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking it into crumbles, until fully browned.
  3. Drain the excess fat, transfer the cooked beef to a plate, and set aside.
  4. Melt the butter in the same skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 2 minutes to form a smooth roux.
  6. Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking constantly. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the sauce begins to thicken.
  7. Slowly whisk in the milk and continue cooking for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  8. Stir in the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt.
  9. Reduce the heat to low. Return the cooked ground beef and egg noodles to the skillet and stir until evenly coated and heated through.
  10. Gently stir in the sour cream until fully incorporated.
  11. Serve hot with vegetables, a side salad, or garlic bread.

Notes

  1. For larger families or planned leftovers, double the recipe.
  2. Add the milk gradually while whisking to prevent lumps.
  3. Reduce the heat before adding the sour cream so it stays smooth.
  4. Store cooled leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
  5. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of milk if the sauce becomes too thick.
