Description

Crisp apple slices drizzled with creamy nut butter and topped with dairy-free chocolate chips, coconut, almonds, and cinnamon. This colorful vegan snack takes only five minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 crisp apples, such as Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, Fuji, or Granny Smith
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup natural peanut butter, almond butter, or sunflower seed butter
  • 2 tablespoons dairy-free mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 2 tablespoons slivered almonds, optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional: hemp hearts, cacao nibs, raisins, currants, ground cardamom, or pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Wash, dry, quarter, and core the apples.
  2. Cut the apples into slices about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Place the apple slices in a bowl with the lemon juice and toss gently to coat.
  4. Warm the nut butter for 20 to 30 seconds, then stir until smooth and drizzable.
  5. Arrange the apple slices in a wide, slightly overlapping layer on a serving plate.
  6. Drizzle the warm nut butter evenly over the apple slices.
  7. Scatter the chocolate chips, coconut, and slivered almonds over the nut butter.
  8. Sprinkle with cinnamon and add any optional toppings.
  9. Serve immediately while the apples remain crisp.

Notes

  1. Use one sweet apple and one tart apple for a balanced flavor.
  2. Choose sunflower seed butter and omit almonds for a nut-free variation.
  3. Check chocolate chip labels when serving a dairy-free or gluten-free diet.
  4. Store sliced apples and toppings separately for the best texture.
  5. Nutrition values are estimated per serving.
