Description

Healthy Frozen Banana Treats are cold, creamy banana halves topped with nut butter, fresh fruit, and mini chocolate chips for an easy no-bake summer snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium ripe bananas, firm but sweet
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower butter
  • 1/3 cup sliced strawberries
  • 1/3 cup blueberries
  • 1/4 cup diced kiwi, raspberries, or sliced grapes
  • 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips, optional
  • 1 tablespoon shredded coconut, optional
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds or crushed peanuts, optional

Instructions

  1. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the bananas and slice each one in half lengthwise.
  3. Place the banana halves cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Stir the nut butter until smooth.
  5. Spread about 1 tablespoon of nut butter over the cut side of each banana half.
  6. Top the nut butter with sliced fruit, mini chocolate chips, coconut, chia seeds, or crushed peanuts.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the freezer.
  8. Freeze for at least 1 hour, or until firm.
  9. Let the frozen banana treats sit at room temperature for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.

Notes

  1. Nutrition will vary based on the nut butter, fruit, and toppings used.
  2. Use firm ripe bananas for the best frozen texture.
  3. Pat juicy fruit dry before adding it to help reduce ice crystals.
  4. Store leftovers in an airtight freezer-safe container with parchment between layers.
  5. Do not thaw and refreeze the treats, because the texture can become soft and watery.
