Description

Cold, juicy crinkle-cut watermelon fries served with a smooth strawberry vanilla yogurt dip. This playful no-cook recipe makes a refreshing summer snack for children, parties, picnics, and cookouts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 large seedless watermelon
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, stems and leaves removed
  • 1 tablespoon honey, plus more to taste

Instructions

  1. Chill the watermelon before cutting for a firmer texture.
  2. Cut the watermelon in half and place one half cut-side down on a stable cutting board.
  3. Slice the watermelon into round discs about 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Cut each disc across the center to form two semicircles.
  5. Use a crinkle cutter to cut the pink flesh into fry-shaped sticks about 1/2 inch wide.
  6. Trim away any remaining rind and arrange the watermelon fries on a chilled platter.
  7. Add the vanilla yogurt, strawberries, and honey to a blender.
  8. Blend on low until the dip looks smooth and evenly combined.
  9. Taste the dip with a watermelon fry and add more honey when needed.
  10. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and serve cold beside the watermelon fries.

Notes

  1. Use a ripe, seedless watermelon with firm flesh for clean cuts.
  2. Pat washed strawberries dry before blending so the dip stays thick.
  3. Store the watermelon fries and yogurt dip in separate airtight containers.
  4. Refrigerate watermelon fries for up to 2 days and the dip for up to 3 days.
