Description

Soft and fluffy red velvet cinnamon rolls with a rich cinnamon filling and generous cream cheese frosting, perfect for holidays and special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt in a bowl
  2. Mix milk, melted butter, egg, food coloring, and vanilla
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients and knead into a soft dough
  4. Let dough rise until doubled in size
  5. Mix butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for filling
  6. Roll dough into a rectangle and spread filling evenly
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips over filling
  8. Roll dough tightly and slice into rolls
  9. Place rolls in baking dish and let rise again
  10. Bake at 350°F until soft and cooked through
  11. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth
  12. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk to make frosting
  13. Spread frosting over warm rolls and serve

Notes

  1. Gel food coloring provides brighter color
  2. Avoid overbaking to keep rolls soft
