A refreshing Mexican horchata drink made with rice, cinnamon, milk, vanilla, and sugar. This creamy sweet drink chills overnight and delivers a smooth authentic flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 2 Mexican cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cups hot water
  • 2 cups milk or almond milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Add rice, 2 cups hot water, and cinnamon sticks to a blender
  2. Blend until rice and cinnamon are roughly ground
  3. Add remaining water and blend again
  4. Pour mixture into a pitcher with lid and refrigerate at least 8 hours
  5. Strain mixture through fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean pitcher
  6. Stir in milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and sugar
  7. Chill until ready to serve
  8. Stir well and serve over ice
