Description
Fresh and flavorful homemade salsa made with tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and lime. This quick salsa comes together in minutes and tastes similar to restaurant style salsa.

- ½ cup white onion, roughly chopped
- 1 clove garlic, roughly chopped
- ½ jalapeño, seeds and ribs removed, roughly chopped
- 10 ounce can diced tomatoes with green chilies, drained
- 14.5 ounce can fire roasted diced tomatoes, undrained
- ½ cup fresh cilantro leaves
- Juice from ½ lime
- ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Pinch of sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Add onion, garlic, and jalapeño to a food processor and pulse until onion pieces are about 1/4 inch in size.
- Drain the diced tomatoes with green chilies and add them to the food processor.
- Add fire roasted tomatoes with their juices along with cilantro, lime juice, cumin, salt, and optional sugar.
- Pulse until the salsa reaches your desired consistency.
- Taste with a tortilla chip and adjust lime juice, salt, or sugar if needed.
- Chill the salsa in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to develop.
Notes
- For mild salsa, replace the diced tomatoes with green chilies with regular diced tomatoes.
- For spicier salsa, use a whole jalapeño or add some seeds and ribs.
- Store salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
