Description
Korean BBQ Steak Bowls with tender sliced sirloin, fresh bell peppers, spinach, and a spicy sesame ginger dressing. This Korean-inspired dinner bowl delivers savory, sweet, and spicy flavor in a quick weeknight meal.

- 2/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup mirin
- 1 tablespoon fresh minced ginger
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 2–3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons sambal oelek
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 lb top sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 2 bell peppers (red and yellow), sliced
- 2 handfuls spinach
- wonton strips
- scallions
- sesame seeds
Instructions
- Blend soy sauce, mirin, ginger, sesame oil, brown sugar, sambal oelek, and garlic in a food processor until smooth
- Place thinly sliced steak in a bag and coat with some dressing then refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours
- Heat a heavy skillet over high heat
- Remove steak from marinade and discard used marinade
- Add steak to the hot pan with a small amount of oil if needed
- Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until browned then flip or stir briefly until desired doneness
- Combine cooked steak with bell peppers and spinach in a bowl
- Add reserved dressing and toss to coat
- Top with wonton strips, scallions, and sesame seeds before serving
Notes
- Slice steak thinly so it cooks quickly
- Do not overcrowd the pan to allow a good sear
- Add kimchi, seaweed, or a soft boiled egg for extra flavor
- Add wonton strips just before serving to keep them crispy
