Description

Moist on the inside, slightly crusty on the top, this make ahead French toast casserole is filled with fresh berries and sweet cinnamon flavor.


Ingredients

Scale

1214 cups French bread

8 large eggs

2 cups 2% milk

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp cinnamon

2/3 cup brown sugar

1 cup strawberries, sliced

1/2 cup blueberries

12 tbsp powdered sugar

Maple syrup, to taste


Instructions

1. Grease a 9×13 casserole dish with butter or oil.

2. Cut French bread into cubes and add to dish.

3. Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a bowl.

4. Pour mixture over bread and press gently.

5. Top with strawberries and blueberries.

6. Cover with wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.

7. Preheat oven to 350°F.

8. Bake 35–50 minutes until golden brown.

9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

10. Serve warm with maple syrup.

Notes

Best made with day-old bread. For a festive version, add raspberries or pecans. Reheats well for up to 3 days.
