Description

A refreshing Southern-style dessert featuring juicy peaches, lightly whipped vanilla cream, and fresh lemon zest.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 fresh ripe peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon zest
  • 6 tablespoons granulated sugar, divided
  • 1¼ cups cold heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional lemon zest
  • Optional cinnamon
  • Optional vanilla wafers

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the peaches into ½-inch wedges.
  2. Mix peaches with lemon zest, 5 tablespoons sugar, and salt.
  3. Let the peaches rest to release their juices.
  4. Whip heavy cream with remaining sugar and vanilla until soft and slightly pourable.
  5. Divide peaches and juices among serving glasses.
  6. Top with whipped cream.
  7. Tap glasses gently so cream settles between peaches.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  9. Garnish before serving.

Notes

  1. Use ripe peaches for best flavor.
  2. Do not over-whip the cream.
  3. Nectarines or apricots may replace peaches.
  4. Refrigerate up to 2 days.
