Description

Soft orange yeast rolls topped with a warm sour cream butter glaze and fresh citrus flavor.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted and divided
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons orange zest
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Bloom yeast in warm water for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix yeast, sugar, butter, eggs, sour cream, and salt until smooth.
  3. Add flour gradually to form a soft dough.
  4. Knead dough until smooth and elastic, then let rise 1 1/2 hours.
  5. Mix orange zest with remaining sugar.
  6. Roll dough, fill with butter and zest sugar, cut and shape rolls.
  7. Let rolls rise 1 hour.
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 22 minutes.
  9. Cook glaze ingredients until boiling for 3 minutes.
  10. Pour warm glaze over baked rolls.

Notes

  1. Adjust flour as needed for soft dough.
  2. Let dough rest if it springs back when rolling.
  3. Use all of the glaze.
  4. Refrigerate leftovers and reheat before serving.
