Description

Oreo Cookie Dirt Cup Pudding combines creamy chocolate pudding, fluffy whipped topping, crushed Oreo cookies, and colorful gummy worms in an easy no-bake dessert. These individual pudding cups are ideal for birthdays, classroom parties, Halloween gatherings, and family celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 30 Oreo cookies
  • 1 large 5.9-ounce box chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 2 1/2 cups very cold whole milk
  • 1 container whipped topping, 8 ounces, thawed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 small pinch fine salt
  • 16 to 24 gummy worms
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened, optional

Instructions

  1. Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor and pulse them into coarse crumbs, leaving a few small pieces for texture. Reserve about 1 cup of crumbs for topping.
  2. Pour the very cold whole milk into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the chocolate instant pudding mix and whisk continuously for 2 full minutes.
  4. Let the pudding stand briefly until it begins to thicken, then stir in the vanilla extract and fine salt.
  5. If using cream cheese, beat it in a separate bowl until smooth. Mix in one spoonful of pudding, then whisk the cream cheese mixture into the remaining pudding.
  6. Fold the thawed whipped topping gently into the pudding until no white streaks remain.
  7. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of Oreo crumbs to the bottom of each clear dessert cup.
  8. Pipe or spoon a layer of pudding mixture over the crumbs.
  9. Add another layer of Oreo crumbs, followed by another layer of pudding.
  10. Cover the top of each cup with the reserved Oreo crumbs.
  11. Tuck 2 or 3 gummy worms into the top of each dirt cup.
  12. Refrigerate the pudding cups for at least 15 minutes, then serve cold.

Notes

  1. Use very cold milk so the instant pudding thickens quickly and firmly.
  2. Whisk the pudding for the full 2 minutes to prevent a loose filling.
  3. Do not crush every Oreo into fine powder because small cookie pieces add texture.
  4. Fold the whipped topping gently to keep the pudding mixture light and airy.
  5. Use a piping bag or a zip-top bag with one corner snipped for cleaner layers.
  6. Assemble the cups on the day you serve them for the best cookie crunch.
  7. Add gummy worms shortly before serving so their sugar coating does not become wet.
  8. Store finished cups covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  9. Do not freeze the pudding cups because the filling may become grainy after thawing.
