- 2 cups peeled peaches, fresh or thawed frozen peaches
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- Vanilla ice cream for serving, optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and melt butter in a 9-inch glass baking dish.
- Mix flour, 2/3 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Add milk and egg and stir until a smooth batter forms.
- Pour batter over melted butter without stirring.
- Mix peaches with remaining sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Spoon peach mixture evenly over batter without stirring.
- Sprinkle brown sugar over the top.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until golden brown.
- Broil briefly for extra crispness if desired.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- Do not stir the layers after adding the batter and peaches.
- Drain thawed frozen peaches before using.
- Recipe can be doubled and baked in a 9×13-inch dish.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
