Description

A chilled layered peach pretzel dessert with a salty baked pretzel crust, fluffy cream cheese filling, and sweet peach gelatin topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/3 cups boiling water
  • 1 6-ounce box peach gelatin
  • 4 cups sliced peaches, fresh or canned and drained
  • 2 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 8-ounce carton whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 pasteurized egg, optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Add peach gelatin to a medium heat-safe bowl, then pour in the boiling water.
  3. Whisk until the gelatin fully dissolves.
  4. Roughly chop the peaches, then stir them into the gelatin mixture.
  5. Let the gelatin cool until it reaches a soft-set texture but still pours easily.
  6. Place the pretzels in a resealable bag and crush them with a rolling pin into small pieces.
  7. Add crushed pretzels, 3 tablespoons powdered sugar, and melted butter to a medium bowl.
  8. Stir until the pretzels are evenly coated.
  9. Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  10. Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then let it cool fully.
  11. Beat the cream cheese, 1 cup powdered sugar, and optional pasteurized egg until smooth.
  12. Gently fold in the whipped topping.
  13. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust, sealing it to every edge of the pan.
  14. Pour the soft-set peach gelatin mixture over the cream cheese layer.
  15. Refrigerate until the gelatin fully sets.
  16. Slice into squares and serve chilled.

Notes

  1. Let the pretzel crust cool fully before adding the cream cheese layer.
  2. Spread the cream cheese filling all the way to the pan edges to protect the crust from the gelatin.
  3. Use drained canned peaches when fresh peaches are not in season.
  4. For cleaner slices, chill the dessert overnight before serving.
  5. Use only a pasteurized egg if adding the optional egg.
