Description

Flaky puff pastry filled with basil pesto and cheese, shaped into adorable Christmas trees for a festive holiday appetizer.


Ingredients

Scale

2 sheets puff pastry

1/2 cup basil pesto

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, grated

1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated

1 egg, whisked

1 tbsp hot honey

2 tsp red pepper flakes


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 360°F (180°C).

2. Roll out the first pastry sheet and spread with basil pesto.

3. Top with mozzarella and parmesan.

4. Place second pastry sheet on top and seal.

5. Slice into 1-inch strips; fold into tree shapes on skewers.

6. Brush with egg wash and bake for 15 minutes.

7. Drizzle with honey and red pepper flakes before serving.

Notes

Prep ahead by assembling trees and refrigerating overnight.

Experiment with different pestos or cheeses for variety.
