Description

A simple cheesy pizza pasta bake made with penne, marinara sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella. This family friendly casserole tastes like pizza and works perfectly for an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound uncooked penne pasta
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 10 ounces sliced pepperoni divided
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and place rack in the top third of the oven
  2. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook penne two minutes less than package directions
  3. Drain pasta and return it to the pot
  4. Stir in marinara sauce and about one third of the pepperoni
  5. Transfer mixture to a 9×13 baking dish and spread evenly
  6. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese
  7. Add remaining pepperoni slices over the cheese
  8. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes until cheese melts
  9. Broil for a few minutes until pepperoni crisps and cheese browns slightly

Notes

  1. Recipe serves 6 to 8 people
  2. Three cups equals one 24 ounce jar of marinara sauce
  3. You can add an extra half to one cup of sauce if you prefer a saucier casserole
  4. Pepperoni packages vary so slightly more or less than 10 ounces works fine
