Description

Soft, buttery Pretzel Bites made in the air fryer with a fluffy center, lightly crisp outside, and salty finish. This quick snack is perfect for game day, parties, lunchboxes, and family movie nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm water, about 110 degrees F
  • 4 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour blend or regular all-purpose flour
  • 2.4 teaspoons quick-rise yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • Pretzel salt, optional
  • Oil spray for the air fryer basket

Instructions

  1. Add warm water to a medium bowl, then whisk in the quick-rise yeast.
  2. Set the yeast mixture aside while you combine the flour, sugar, and sea salt in a large bowl.
  3. Pour the water-yeast mixture into the flour mixture and stir until a thick dough forms.
  4. Add one extra tablespoon of water only if the dough feels too dry.
  5. Sprinkle flour on a countertop and divide the dough into 8 pieces.
  6. Roll each dough piece into a rope, then slice each rope into 1-inch pieces.
  7. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil.
  8. Place the pretzel bites in a single layer with space between each piece.
  9. Brush the tops with melted butter.
  10. Cook at 400 degrees F for 7 minutes, or until lightly golden on top.
  11. Transfer the pretzel bites to a plate after they cool slightly.
  12. Brush again with remaining melted butter and sprinkle with pretzel salt.
  13. Serve warm with cheese sauce, mustard, ranch, or your favorite dip.

Notes

  1. Use warm water, not hot water, so the yeast works properly.
  2. Do not crowd the air fryer basket because the bites expand while cooking.
  3. Cook in batches for the best texture and even browning.
  4. For a sweeter version, skip the pretzel salt and toss the buttered bites with cinnamon sugar.
  5. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 320 degrees F for 2 to 3 minutes.
