- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons margarine or butter
- 4 oz instant mashed potato mix
- 1/2 cup milk
- 28 oz frozen tater tots
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Add diced onions and cook until translucent and beef is fully cooked, then drain excess grease.
- Stir in corn, water, gravy mix, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder until thickened.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Prepare mashed potatoes by boiling water with margarine, removing from heat, then stirring in potato mix and milk.
- Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the beef layer.
- Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top.
- Bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle cheese over the top, and bake an additional 4–6 minutes until melted and lightly browned.
- Let rest briefly before serving.
Notes
- Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving to help the layers set.
- Use lean ground beef to avoid excess grease.
- For crispier tater tots, avoid overlapping them.
