Description

A warm, spoonable slow cooker peach bake made with frozen peaches, cinnamon, yellow cake mix, and melted butter. This easy fruit dessert tastes like a cozy peach cobbler with very little prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds frozen sliced peaches, about 6 to 7 cups, unthawed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 box yellow cake mix, about 15.25 ounces
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease the inside of a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker with butter or nonstick spray.
  2. Pour the frozen sliced peaches into the slow cooker and spread them into an even layer. Keep them frozen.
  3. Sprinkle the granulated sugar evenly over the peaches, then sprinkle the cinnamon on top.
  4. Gently toss the peaches with a spoon so the sugar and cinnamon coat the fruit, then spread the peaches back into an even layer.
  5. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the peaches, covering the fruit as completely as possible. Do not stir.
  6. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the dry cake mix, moistening as much of the surface as possible.
  7. Cover and cook on high for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or on low for 4 to 5 hours, until the peaches bubble around the edges and the topping looks set.
  8. Turn off the slow cooker and let the peach bake rest, covered, for 10 to 15 minutes so it thickens slightly.
  9. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, heavy cream, or half-and-half, if desired.

Notes

  1. Use frozen peaches straight from the freezer for the best texture.
  2. Do not stir the cake mix into the fruit after layering it on top.
  3. For a deeper flavor, use spice cake mix instead of yellow cake mix.
  4. If the peaches taste very tart, increase the sugar to 3/4 cup.
  5. For a less sweet dessert, reduce the sugar to 1/3 cup.
  6. Add 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts over the cake mix before adding butter for extra texture.
  7. Refrigerate leftovers in a shallow airtight container within 2 hours and use within 3 to 4 days.
