Description

Authentic Southern Key Lime Pie with a creamy sweet-tart filling and buttery graham cracker crust.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons key lime zest
  • 1/2 cup key lime juice
  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • Whipped topping for garnish
  • Lime slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Combine butter, sugar, and graham cracker crumbs.
  2. Press mixture into a 9-inch pie plate.
  3. Chill for 1 hour or bake at 375°F for 5 minutes and cool.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  5. Whisk egg yolks until thick and pale yellow.
  6. Slowly mix in sweetened condensed milk.
  7. Add key lime juice and zest and mix until blended.
  8. Pour filling into prepared crust.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes.
  10. Cool to room temperature.
  11. Refrigerate until fully chilled.
  12. Garnish and serve.

Notes

  1. Use fresh key limes when possible.
  2. Bottled key lime juice may supplement fresh juice.
  3. Store refrigerated up to 3 days.
  4. Freeze up to 2 months without whipped topping.
