Description

Spicy Voodoo Shrimp is a Cajun-inspired dish made with tender shrimp simmered in a rich, spicy tomato-based sauce loaded with bold spices and aromatics.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely diced
  • 1 celery stalk, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup chicken or seafood stock
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon wedges
  • Cooked rice, grits, or crusty bread

Instructions

  1. Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and cayenne.
  2. Sauté onion, bell pepper, and celery in butter and olive oil until soft.
  3. Add garlic and cook briefly until fragrant.
  4. Stir in tomato paste and spices, then deglaze with stock and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Simmer sauce until slightly thickened.
  6. Sear shrimp in a separate skillet until pink and opaque.
  7. Add shrimp to sauce and simmer briefly.
  8. Garnish with parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  1. Adjust heat by reducing cayenne or hot sauce.
  2. Use seafood stock for deeper flavor.
  3. Serve immediately for best texture.
