Description

Strawberry Pretzel Parfaits layer juicy sweetened strawberries, tangy brown sugar yogurt, and buttery cinnamon pretzel crumbs for a fast sweet, salty, creamy, and crunchy dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup mini pretzel twists
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup whole milk yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Place the diced strawberries in a shallow dish, sprinkle them with granulated sugar, and stir to coat. Let them rest for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Add the pretzel twists to a food processor and pulse until they form a mixture of fine crumbs and small chunks.
  3. Drizzle the melted butter over the crushed pretzels, add the cinnamon, and pulse two or three times to combine.
  4. Transfer the pretzel mixture to a bowl and set it aside.
  5. Add the yogurt or sour cream and brown sugar to a small bowl. Whisk until smooth and free of brown sugar lumps.
  6. Divide some of the yogurt mixture between two serving glasses.
  7. Add a layer of strawberries and their juice, followed by a layer of pretzel crumble.
  8. Repeat the layers, then garnish each parfait with extra yogurt, strawberries, and pretzel crumbs.
  9. Serve immediately while the pretzel layer remains crisp.

Notes

  1. Serve the parfaits immediately after assembly because the pretzel crumbs soften quickly.
  2. For advance preparation, refrigerate the strawberries and yogurt mixture separately and keep the pretzel crumble in an airtight container at room temperature.
  3. Whole milk yogurt creates a tangy, creamy layer, while sour cream gives the parfaits a richer flavor.
  4. Fresh strawberries provide the best texture, though drained thawed strawberries can work.
