Description

This Taco Bell Meat Recipe is a spot-on copycat of the fast-food chain’s iconic seasoned beef. It’s soft, juicy, and full of bold, savory flavor. Made with pantry spices, a touch of beef bouillon, and a unique blend of thickeners like oat fiber and flour, this homemade version captures the texture and taste of the original. Use it in tacos, burritos, nachos, and more—all from the comfort of your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion flakes

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder

  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules

  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder (optional)

  • ½ teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon oat fiber or finely ground oats (optional)

  • ¾ cup water or low-sodium beef broth

  • ¼ cup tomato juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef:
Place the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Break it into small crumbles. Cook for 6–8 minutes until no longer pink. Drain any extra fat.

  2. Mix the Spices:
In a bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion flakes, chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne, bouillon, salt, pepper, and any optional spices (cocoa, oat fiber, etc.).

  3. Season the Meat:
Sprinkle the spice mix over the cooked beef. Stir to coat the meat evenly.

  4. Add Liquids:
Pour in water or broth. Add tomato juice if using. Stir everything together.

  5. Simmer and Mash:
Lower heat. Simmer for 10–12 minutes until the liquid thickens. Use a potato masher to break the meat down more for that soft Taco Bell texture.

  6. Serve:
Use in tacos, burritos, nachos, or salads.

Notes

For the softest texture, blend the beef in a food processor after cooking (optional).

Substitute ground turkey or lentils for a leaner or vegetarian version.

Add more cayenne for extra spice or reduce for a milder flavor.

Oat fiber adds a distinct Taco Bell-style feel but is optional.
