Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ cup marinara or pizza sauce
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese (or provolone)
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for toasting buns)
- ¼ cup sliced pepperoni (optional, for extra pizza flavor)
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
- Fresh basil or oregano (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Patties: In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning. Form into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Cook the Patties: Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked (internal temperature of 160°F).
- Add the Sauce & Cheese: Spoon about 2 tbsp of marinara sauce onto each patty, then place a slice of mozzarella cheese on top. Cover the skillet with a lid for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese.
- Toast the Buns: In a separate pan, toast the hamburger buns with a little butter or olive oil until golden brown.
- Assemble the Burgers: Place each cheesy, saucy patty on a toasted bun. Add a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, red pepper flakes, and sliced pepperoni if desired. Garnish with fresh basil or oregano.
- Serve & Enjoy: Serve immediately with a side of fries, salad, or roasted veggies.
Notes
- Use ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Swap the mozzarella for provolone or cheddar for a different flavor twist.
- Try using garlic bread or ciabatta instead of regular burger buns for extra pizza vibes.
- Add sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives for a supreme pizza-inspired burger.
