Description

Soft Hawaiian rolls layered with oven-roasted deli turkey, creamy Muenster cheese, mayonnaise, and a savory buttery-herb topping. These warm baked sliders make an easy appetizer, party snack, or simple family dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian sweet dinner rolls, kept connected
  • 12 slices Muenster cheese
  • 1 pound sliced deli turkey
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise, divided
  • 7 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Nonstick cooking spray or butter for greasing the pan

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Generously grease a 9 x 13-inch ceramic baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. Place the melted butter in a microwave-safe bowl and let it cool slightly. Whisk in the Dijon mustard, poppy seeds, dried minced onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Use a serrated bread knife to slice the connected block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Keep the individual rolls attached.
  4. Spread 1/4 cup mayonnaise over the cut side of the bottom slab and spread the remaining 1/4 cup mayonnaise over the cut side of the top slab.
  5. Place the bottom slab in the prepared pan. Layer six Muenster slices over the bread, arrange the turkey evenly over the cheese, and add the remaining six cheese slices.
  6. Leave the top slab off and bake the bottom layer uncovered for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven and place the top slab of rolls over the melted cheese.
  8. Pour the seasoned butter mixture over the tops and sides of the rolls. Use a pastry brush to coat each roll evenly.
  9. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes, or until the tops turn golden brown and the cheese melts completely.
  11. Let the sliders rest for 5 minutes. Cut along the roll lines and serve hot.

Notes

  1. Keep the rolls connected while slicing and assembling so the sliders remain easy to layer.
  2. Smoked or oven-roasted deli turkey gives the filling a deeper savory flavor.
  3. Provolone, Swiss, Havarti, mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or cheddar can replace the Muenster cheese.
  4. Store cooled sliders in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  5. Freeze individually wrapped sliders in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months.
  6. Reheat refrigerated sliders at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes, covering them loosely with foil.
