- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 1 small sweet onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 4 ounces diced green chiles
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons cumin
- 2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 4 ounces tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- Tortillas or lettuce wraps for serving
- Optional taco toppings
Instructions
- Heat avocado oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add ground turkey, diced onion, and garlic and cook while breaking the meat apart until fully browned.
- Stir in green chiles, chili powder, cumin, coriander, salt, and cayenne pepper until evenly combined.
- Add tomato sauce, chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar and mix well.
- Bring mixture to a boil then reduce heat to simmer.
- Simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve turkey taco meat in tortillas or over lettuce with desired toppings.
Notes
- Add extra cayenne pepper or jalapeno if you want more spice.
- Brown sugar balances acidity and does not make the tacos sweet.
- Leftover turkey taco meat stores well for quick meals.
