Description

Soft walnut cookies made with sour cream dough and a cinnamon walnut filling.


Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 3 1/2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 2/3 cups chopped walnuts
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat butter and sugar until light and creamy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in sour cream.
  4. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt, then mix into wet ingredients.
  5. Combine walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon for the filling.
  6. Fill, shape, and place cookies on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until lightly golden.
  8. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  1. Toast walnuts lightly for deeper flavor.
  2. Store cookies in an airtight container up to 4 days.
  3. Freeze cookies for up to 2 months.
