Description

Cherry Pie with a buttery crust and sweet cherry filling. A classic homemade dessert perfect for holidays and gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 7 1/2 ounces cold unsalted butter
  • 6 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 3/4 pounds frozen cherries, thawed and drained
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  2. Add ice water gradually until dough forms. Chill for 1 hour.
  3. Mix cherries, sugar, and cornstarch until coated.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  5. Roll out larger dough portion and fit into pie dish.
  6. Add cherry filling evenly into crust.
  7. Create lattice top with remaining dough strips and seal edges.
  8. Brush with egg wash.
  9. Bake 40 to 45 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  10. Cool at least 2 hours before slicing.

Notes

  1. Drain cherries thoroughly to prevent watery filling.
  2. Increase sugar to 2/3 cup for sweeter pie.
  3. Store covered at room temperature up to 2 days.
  4. Refrigerate up to 4 days or freeze up to 2 months.
