Description

Wholesome crackers, fresh fruit, and a cheese stick become an adorable butterfly-shaped snack for lunchboxes, parties, picnics, or afternoon snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sandwich-size zip-top bag
  • 1 clean craft pipe cleaner
  • 1 individually wrapped cheese stick
  • 1/4 cup fresh grapes or other sturdy fruit
  • 1/4 cup mini sandwich crackers
  • 1 small piece double-sided tape
  • 1 food-safe marker or permanent marker for the cheese wrapper

Instructions

  1. Wash the fruit under cool running water and dry it completely.
  2. Measure the fruit and mini sandwich crackers into separate bowls.
  3. Leave the cheese stick wrapped, then draw a smiling face on the wrapper.
  4. Place the fruit on one side of the zip-top bag.
  5. Place the mini sandwich crackers on the opposite side.
  6. Press out excess air and seal the bag tightly.
  7. Pinch the center of the bag and wrap the pipe cleaner around it.
  8. Twist the pipe cleaner securely and curl the ends upward to form antennae.
  9. Attach the decorated cheese stick vertically over the center with double-sided tape.
  10. Adjust the fillings to form even butterfly wings, then serve or refrigerate.

Notes

  1. Use any sturdy fruit your child enjoys, such as grapes, blueberries, apple pieces, or strawberries.
  2. Replace peanut butter crackers with cheese crackers, pretzels, dry cereal, or nut-free crackers when needed.
  3. Dry the fruit thoroughly to help the crackers stay crisp.
  4. Cut grapes lengthwise and choose age-appropriate foods for younger children.
  5. Keep the pipe cleaner, tape, and marker ink outside the sealed food bag.
  6. Store the assembled bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 5 days, depending on the fruit.
  7. Pack the snack with an ice pack when it contains cheese or cut fruit.
