- 1 can (14–15 oz) salmon, drained and flaked
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper (optional)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise or mustard
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Pinch of garlic powder or paprika (optional)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or olive)
Instructions
- Drain salmon and remove bones and skin if desired.
- In a bowl, combine salmon, egg, onion, bell pepper, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise or mustard, and seasonings.
- Form mixture into 4–6 patties.
- Refrigerate patties for 15–20 minutes to firm.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Fry patties for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
Notes
Chilling the patties helps them hold their shape during frying.
Patties can be baked at 400°F (200°C) for a healthier option.
Serve with tartar sauce, spicy mayo, or lemon wedges.
